On Tuesday November 23, David Holmgren presented a RetroSuburbia masterclass through Gaia Education.
With 68% of people projected to live in cities by 2050, how do we ensure we have healthy food, access to water, and energy to meet our needs and thrive regeneratively and resiliently? We face the challenge of reducing emissions and creating a resilient future by 2030 – the question is – how do we do that? And where do we start, when we are working against a looming climate emergency, increased social inequality, and an energy and resource crisis. The idea of a “homestead,” moving to an ecovillage or the countryside, is very appealing but may not be a realistic choice for many. We will be talking about how we can create a resilient future without having to leave the suburban areas many inhabit and how we can support others to do so. Join us in one of the most important interviews of the year with permaculture co-founder, activist, and author David Holmgren. Gaia Education’s Ecological Design facilitators will also be there, who are themselves, experienced community organizers and permaculturists; Aline Van Moerbeke (Spain) and Kym Chi (Canada), as well as Gaia Education eLearning coordinator Silvia Di Blasio.
