Hi David. I am happy to hear this in Taiwan. I have been make Retrosuberbia book reading online community in Japan once on month on this 5 years. I agree the Retrosuberbia vision, which create disintermediate and community sufficient Suburbia.
In this IPC meeting, I met a Newzealand participants who ask “We don’t right to access to land” some permaculture teacher reply them to ” you should to fight to the government”. but I couldn’t complete agree his answer and I still seek to another creative permaculture idea.
Now, I would like to ask you the big picture question, the Alexander’s “city country finger” vision is still work on real world idea or not?
Why I ask this, I think the access of land is still hard thing on many country. And I know the city contribute to make livelihood for many people have not capability to move retrosuburbia life style.
In the view of the ethics “fair share” , city should be design with space of forest and soil. And also permaculture designer have a possibility to find the work with developing plan of city. I feel essence of access of land and city problem is not many permaculture activist create small garden in city, but no city designer try to make city county finger design.
