We are going to see a serious challenge in the near future: the enormous amount of net energy that was available in the past (thanks to high quality fossil fuels), will no longer be available in the future. How to face this challenge? The key answer is not just the reduction in fossil fuels, but the reduction in the energy use at large as renewable energies cannot provide the net energy necessary for current systems.
